This papaya strawberry smoothie is like a tropical refresh button — fruity, light, hydrating, and just what your body needs after a good sweat or a steamy summer morning.

It’s got this mellow papaya and coconut water base with a little zip from lime and a subtle sweetness from strawberries. It’s not overly sweet, which I love, and it digests super easily, too.

Nutritionally, it’s low in calories (around 120–140 per serving), hydrating thanks to the coconut water, and packed with vitamin C, antioxidants, and gut-friendly enzymes from the papaya.

What You’ll Need

Here is what you’ll need for this papaya strawberry smoothie recipe. Find the full measurements in the recipe card below.

  • Frozen papaya – Adds that smooth, creamy texture and a mellow tropical flavor. Rich in vitamin C and digestive enzymes. You can use fresh papaya and freeze it for 1 hour. No papaya? Frozen mango works great too.
  • Fresh strawberries – Natural sweetness and tang. Loaded with antioxidants and fiber. Feel free to swap with other berries or use frozen strawberries and fresh papaya.
  • Lime juice – A pop of brightness! Helps balance the flavors and supports digestion.
  • Coconut water – Light and hydrating with natural electrolytes — ideal for post-workout or hot days. Coconut water can be swapped for almond milk or plain water in a pinch, but you’ll lose the electrolyte boost.

Notes

Can I make this ahead of time?
You can prep the ingredients ahead — freeze the papaya and wash/cut the strawberries. But once it’s blended, it’s best to drink it fresh. It tends to separate if it sits too long.
Can I use frozen strawberries?
Yes! Just make sure to slightly thaw them or add a splash more coconut water to help your blender out.
What if I don’t have coconut water?
You can use almond milk or plain cold water. Just keep in mind you’ll miss out on the natural electrolytes and subtle sweetness of the coconut water.
Is this smoothie sweet?
It’s mildly sweet. If you like it sweeter, add half a banana or a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup.
What blender do you use?
I’ve been using my Ninja high-speed blender, and it handles frozen fruit like a champ. You can use Vitamix/Nutribullet/whatever you like!
