One of the more frequent requests I get from my readers and Facebook followers is for good paleo bread recipes. I’ve been collecting nice looking, paleo-friendly bread recipes from my favourite bloggers and food sites and adding them to this post, including sliced sandwich bread, loaves, rolls, bagels, wraps and more.
Before you put on your baking shoes and start jumping with joy, let me play the fun police card for a second. Even though these recipes are grain-, gluten- and dairy-free, a lot of them are made with high-carbohydrate starches and energy-dense nut meals, which puts them in the ‘in moderation’ or ‘pleasure food’ category. Sandwich bread and wraps are great for a quick and convenient lunch and they make the transition into paleo much easier but just remember not to rely on them as your staple.
The list is in no particular order of preference, although I kept the more regular slice bread recipes in the first half and put all the wacky, crazy, interesting wraps, rolls and tortillas in the second half.

Awesome list! Thanks for including my bagels 🙂
They’re good looking bagels 😉
Well… we don’t now how we are going to eat our paleo bread in moderation now. We want to make EVERY SINGLE RECIPE! Ahhh! Hehe. Thanks for a great paleo bread round up and thank you so much for including our recipe! #grateful
Lots of love, Emma + Carla xox
I love that you put the key ingredients right under each recipe! That made it really easy to navigate only to the recipes that didn’t have almonds in them. Excellent compilation.
Also, the Against All Grain sandwich bread is made with cashew butter, and therefore is not nut-free.
Yep, fixed already! Thanks
The Banana bread from Civilized Caveman is my fave 🙂
They all look delicious.
There is an error though – #6 is NOT nut free. The first ingredient is cashew butter. While cashew nuts are technically seeds, most people consider them nuts and many people with nut allergies are allergic to cashews also.
My mistake, pasted from another recipe. It was meant to be NOT nut free.
This is a great collection of recipes. I will be saving it as a reference. Can I point out that #6 has been described as nut-free but the key ingredients list includes cashew butter.
Oh, good point! I missed that and will change.
Thanks so much for including me in your round up! I love your site hun!
And I love yours 🙂
There’s one that Richar dNokely does using home made macadamia butter:

I mean, we’re Austalian right?
Bread! I tend to be fond of it. Not a fervent follower of paleo, but there are good ideas from it. Nice bread recipe ideas. Will try them soon with my favorite ingredients.
Hey
Love your recipes and yours is my go-to site whenever I want to find a paleo recipe or version of a loved recipe.
Two things though – the images all link to another image rather than the recipes! Confusing. Secondly I would love love love to see a vote feature for these types of recipes where theres so many versions. It’d be great to see a poll or two especially for things like breads and cakes, to find your readers faves! I can only try to many recipes myself 😀 😀
Loving your work again,
Jon
Ah that’s an easy fix! We’ll get that updated. Voting is a little harder to implement but a great idea 🙂
How do I print #4 recipe?
Hi Linda, you have to click on that recipe’s link and go to the website it’s on or the page on my site that it’s on, if it’s one of mine. Then you just choose to printe from the File in the Browser menu.
I’m new to the paleo life so forgive me but which ingredients/breads were high in omega6? I didn’t read each recipe but it seems like most people use tapioca, arrow root, coconut or almond flour in many different recipes. Are these high in omega 6?
Thanks
I think you guys would love some of my bread recipes. Especially the caraway seed crackers. Check them out under the bakery section of my website.

I love bread and I’ve been baking my own bread for 2 reasons – health and taste. But when it comes to paleo, I have to confess that I’m a complete noob. Your recipes look great but I’ve got a question. Can these paleo recipes be kept frozen and used for baking at a later time?
Do you meant to freeze the batter? I know people often freeze the actual baked bread, pre-sliced, and then defrost and quickly toast and grill the slices.
Do you have any pasta recipes?
No, I wish! That’s much more difficult to pull off without wheat flour 😉
Mary there is a recipe for pasta dough in the book Make it Paleo 2 by Hayley Mason and Bill Staley. Although all the paleo pasta recipes i’ve found do contain Xanthan gum, don’t know what its like but it looks good, havn’t found a link on the web to the recipe but am waiting for my books to arrive (just moved overseas so their in a shipping container) so if you want i can share the recipe when i get it. they also have a dumpling dough that i can’t wait to try. Although have just found these recipes one with and one without xanthan gum let me know if either are any good 🙂

Many thanks for all the inspiring recipes – my Paleo regime made all the more easy by wonderful blogs and sites like yours…
This bread is an absolute winner.
Thank you Alison! This means a lot to me.
I have made the first recipe listed and the one below, both are very good.

Does a flax egg work as an egg-substitute for any of these recipes?
Hey Abbey, I haven’t tried these with the flax egg but I am sure a few people have. The thing about paleo baking is that because the flours/nut meals used don’t really have the right protein to provide the same bread texture you’d get from wheat, having the eggs really helps to bind the ingredients and to provide some protein. I would experiment with one of the recipes and make a small batch to see which one works the best.

I’ve tried this, and I love it. I added 1tsp ground coriander and 1tsp ground ginger to satisfy my palate. It is wonderful.
These recipes look great however my son is allergic to egg, has anyone made any of the breads with something instead of eggs? thanks
Karen –
I made the dinner rolls with Gelatin as an egg substitue , turned out great 🙂
Oh, that’s a great idea to try next time.
Thank you for sharing !

Can you share your recipe with us Karen? How much gelatin do you put in ?
Why does all the paleo bread look so cakey?
Because they’re using very different flours to regular breads.
Real nice! I will try these recipes. Thanks!
What a wonderful collection of recipes – thank you
Thank you I’m going to try these recipes
YAY!! I’ve been searching everywhere for nut free low carb bread recipes and have been coming up empty! I found 4 possible options from your blog post today. Thank you so much for taking the time to post these recipes.
Awesome! Glad you found it useful.
Hi
I’m doing Paleo and weight watchers. I have made the linseed bread but the points are very high according to weight watches. Do you have any recipes for a low point paleo bread?
Syd
Hey Syd, I am not sure how the weight watchers point system works. Are they based on calories per serving? Carbohydrates? Fat? Sorry, can’t really point you in the right direction there.
I’m not really much a fan of paleo bread, but after seeing this recipe made me want to try it! This is simply irresistible, thank you for sharing!
